American History Plans

Classical Conversations Cycle 3 covers American History! Here is how I plan to teach it:

Books

The core of our lessons is simply reading good books to my children! Some books I’ve had in our library for years and some are new that I purchased knowing they will be used many years to come by all four of my children!

History Notebook

After reading a book, the girls will get their History Notebooks (a blank drawing pad I bought at Convention for $3 each!) and they can draw, paint or color a picture in their notebooks to show what they have learned.

Drawing

I bought Draw Write Now Book 5. It has step by step instructions for drawing many fun things from American History!

American History DVDs

Another fun way to learn about American History, will be by watching This is America, Charlie Brown and the Liberty’s Kids DVDs.

American History Audio Stories IMG_8163.JPG

My girls love audio stories! We will enjoy Adventures in Odyssey For God and Country, Story of the World Volumes 3 and 4. I am excited to listen to two Heroes of History CDs: George Washington and Harriet Tubman.

For the Littles

I have several board books about American History as well as Wee-Sing American songs CD the boys can listen to during their Room Times.
