Kindergarten Curriculum with Classical Conversations
Sep 06, 2016
Yesterday we took a look at what 2nd Grade looks like with Classical Conversations as the backbone of the curriculum. Today we will take a look at my Kindergartener’s curriculum line up for this year!
I am envious of the education my 5-year-old is going to receive! We started CC at the precise year that she was old enough for official school! Being only 4-years-old our first year of CC, I debated on whether I was going to enroll her in a class. Enrolling her was one of the best things I have ever done for her as her mother. CC has made her blossom in ways I was not expecting. Entering the program at age 4 means she will complete all 3 cycles two times and she will complete Cycle 1 three times!
Take a look at everything Sweet Pea will learn and be exposed to this year! Everything that is in bold is included in the Classical Conversations Foundation program. With Classical Conversations, I only have to choose a Language Arts and Math program; everything else is included in the CC program!

Art & Music:
(All of this is covered over 24 weeks during our 1 day per week Community Day. You can certainly explore all of this more at home as most everything you need to do so can be found in your Foundations Guide.)
- Exposure to drawing techniques
- Music Theory
- Tin Whistle
- 6 Great Artists and related projects
- Introduction to orchestra
- 3 classical composers
Public Speaking:
(Every child gives a 2-3 minute oral presentation in their classroom during Community Day.)
- 24 oral presentations
Physical Education:
- 30 minute class with our CC Community after class and lunch! (I did not bold this because it is not a part of CC's standard program, however, our community is offering PE classes to the children which we are taking advantage of!)
My Kindergartener spends about 45-60 minutes max on structured learning 4 days per week (the 5th day is our Community Day). As you can see in my post about 2nd Grade, this leaves ample time for a 5-year-old to do what 5-year-old’s do best: PLAY!
Structured learning includes everything you see above in Language Arts (alternating between the choices - we never do it all in 1 day!) and Math plus a daily 30 minute review of her Memory Work for the week!
What a solid foundation Sweet Pea will have in her education!
