Little Bug’s Writing Notebook

Mar 09, 2015

Little Bug is by far my most challenging child. Three days a week when she is at school and it is just me, the baby and Sweet Pea at home….it is so calm. Little Bug is a ball of electricity. She is loud and the complete opposite of a wall flower. We have hardwood floors and she sounds like a herd of buffalo when she is just simply walking through the house. She doesn’t walk. She gallops and flies. Nothing she does is done without at least a drop of drama.

There have been days when I have felt like a complete failure of a mother to her. Days when I have felt like nothing we do will ever help mold this child into what God has made her be. She is so strong-willed and determined but as she is on the brink of turning six years old, she has become extremely interested in writing. She has her own notebook where she just writes. I was flipping through it one day, reading (phonetically) what she had written.

And I was astounded because most of what I was reading were truths from God’s Word that we have been teaching and telling her since before she could walk. And now, here she was pouring them out from her soul as everything that she has written in this notebook has come straight from her. No prompting from us at all in what to write!

God is my shepherd, He guides me.

After I read all of these pages, it was like tangible proof that all the hard work we have put in to discipline her and training her up in the Lord IS paying off. It IS making a difference. God IS drawing her to Him, little by little as we continue to teach her the truths found in His Word.

It was just extremely encouraging to read those words. God IS going to do something mighty with her BIG personality and we need to keep faithfully training all of our children up in the LORD.
