Katy No-Pocket {Letter K, Number After, Kite}

{Letter of the Week}
Our book this week was Katy No-Pocket. I had heard of this book but had never read it before this week. This is such a cute story about a mother kangaroo who doesn’t have a pouch for her baby. She goes on a quest to fine a pouch and the wise old owl gives her some wonderful advice that leads her to finding a pocket that is better than she ever imagined it would be! Both girls really enjoyed this story and I am happy that we have this book in our home library now. We also enjoyed a few other books for Letter K!
Sweet Pea wanted to make a kangaroo out of her Letter K instead of what was planned for this craft. So I cut out a head, foot and tail and Sweet Pea glued them on to her Letter K. She used Dot Markers to do her Do-A-Dot Letter K.
{Number After}
Sweet Pea played a game with Kangaroos and Joeys. The kangaroos had a number on them and Sweet Pea had to put the joey with the number after the one on the kangaroo in the mother’s pouch! Grams did this with Sweet Pea the first day and she said that once she taught Sweet Pea how to do this, she caught on quickly to the concept. We played the game again later in the week and she was matching the kangaroos and joeys quickly!
{Kites and Kings}
Sweet Pea got to make a kite and king’s crown! She brought her sister’s fan into the homeschool room, plugged it in herself and had fun playing with her kite in front of the wind. She has worn the king’s crown pretty much non-stop since she (and Little Bug) made it!
