Inch By Inch {Letter I, Measurement, Counting}

{Letter of the Week}
The Letter of the Week was Letter I. We read Inch by Inch which is an adorable story about an inchworm who likes to measure things. He has to get creative when the nightingale wants to eat him!Sweet Pea made an inchworm and glued it to her Letter I. She chose to use dot stickers for her Do-A-Dot Letter I. Sweet Pea gained an interest in writing this week and wanted to write her I’s with pencil at the bottom of her Do-A-Dot page.
{Making Ice Cream}
Sweet Pea got to make ice cream! Grams helped her put all the ingredients in the ziplock bags. Then Sweet Pea shook the bags (wrapped in a towel) and made her ice cream. She didn’t like it.
{Measurement, Counting, Igloo}
We were suppose to use Gummy Worms for this activity but I didn’t have any so I cut up two pipe cleaners to make “inchworms”. Sweet Pea found some things around the house she wanted to measure. She found the dice, ladybug pillow and her alphabet cards. She used the “inchworms” to measure each object like the inchworm had done in the book!
Sweet Pea did Ice Cream Cone Math. She had 4 ice cream cones with the numbers 1-4 on them. She had to glue the corresponding number of ice cream scoops onto the cones. Then she added chocolate chips to each cone. She had to look at the number on the cone to know how many chocolate chips to draw.
Sweet Pea made an igloo and was able to practice cutting when she cut the white stripes of paper into squares. Then she glued the squares onto the paper to make the igloo. I wrote the word “igloo” on her paper and let her trace it.
