The Snowy Day {Letter S, Snow, Graphing}

{Letter S}

In this week of Ready-Made Preschool Level 1, we read The Snowy Day. Sweet Pea enjoyed the story and it introduced her to snow and snow play because where we live we don’t get snow! Our Letter of the Week this week was Letter S. Sweet Pea got to put star stickers on her Letter S. Each week she has a Do-A-Dot Letter which she enjoys doing.

{Snow, Graphing}

We had lots of fun snow themed activities this week! It was a pretty cold week for us so it worked out perfect we did these lessons this week. Sweet Pea made a Snowy Night Picture. She drew a snowman and then painted glue on the paper and sprinkled it with glitter to make snow. Sweet Pea made her first graph! She asked several family members what snow activity was their favorite: sled ridding, snowball fighting or skiing. I wrote the names on the snowballs and had her figure out what name was on each snowball. After she glued the snowballs onto the graph, she counted the snowballs to find out how many people had chosen each activity. Then I asked her which activity had the most and the least. (I blocked the girls’ names. Little Bug chose skiing, Sweet Pea chose sled ridding and the girls said if Sarge could talk he would have chosen snowball fighting!) The last day Sweet Pea made a snowflake by painting a doily blue and then sprinkling glitter on. Little Bug wanted to make one too so I cut her a snowflake out of paper and she made one too.
