Life of Fred {Apples}
Sep 29, 2014
Life of Fred – Apples – I picked this up at one of the vendor’s exhibits to show Dave while we were at the Homeschool Convention. I just wanted to show it to him because I thought it was such an interesting way to teach math and we have a daughter who LOVES stories. (Life of Fred is a math curriculum that teaches math concepts through an on-going humorous story about Fred. It is a full math curriculum from elementary math all the way to Calculus!)
Dave looked at it and looked at the price ($16 at the Rainbow Resources exhibit) and decided we should get it. We won’t attempt to work through the problems included with the book this year but will just use this as a resource to teach math concepts via reading stories to her. She is seriously addicted to stories! A large percentage of her playtime is spent being read to or listening to stories on CD while she plays. When she is with her Gramps she is constantly asking him to tell her “Wolf Stories” which he makes up as they go along. They have an entire wolf family with different personalities and character traits that Little Bug has helped him develop over the time they have been telling “Wolf Stories”.
I don’t know that I could let Life of Fred be our main math curriculum but I could definitely see it being a supplement or extra resource to use with Little Bug to teach her math.
