Our Homeschool Room {2014-2015}

While I foresee us schooling all over our home, I love having a Homeschool Room so I can keep all of our curriculum, materials and supplies organized and in one area of our home.

On the far wall there are two bookshelves, both of which were made by my father for my 4th grade classroom when I taught in the public school. I envisioned them one day in my Homeschool Room and now here they are! The bookshelf on the left has our baskets of picture books that are categorized by topic or author. The black drawer-organizer to the left of the bookshelf has coloring books, educational workbooks and dry-erase marker handwriting practice workbooks.

The bookshelf on the right has baskets that are filled with craft supplies, math manipulatives and Ready-Made Preschool books and supplies. The girls’ supply box sits on the top of this bookshelf as well as Sweet Pea’s Ready-Made Preschool lessons (the basket on the far right).

This desk with two chairs is another masterpiece of my father’s! He made this for my brother and me when we were little. It is the perfect size table for the girls right now.

I love our fabric world map! This year I won’t have to try and show the girls places on the tiny inflatable globe we had last year. This map will come in real handy. Below the map are four more drawer-organizers. The first one from the left has all our paper – construction paper, cardstock paper and foam paper. The next two from the left are Little Bug’s workboxes and the last one is Sweet Pea’s workboxes. The box on top of the 3rd drawer-organizer has files from Little Bug’s ABC Learning Time and Themes that I did with her when she was 2-3 years old. I have used some of them with Sweet Pea and will continue to use some of it with her this year, too.

These cabinets and bookshelf hold the majority of our homeschool curriculum and materials. The cabinet on the left has all of our office supplies. Even though our home office is no longer in the Homeschool Room, we still keep all office supplies in here. The middle bookshelf has educational games, our Horizons curriculum and math manipulatives, my supply box, teacher’s manuals and planner. The bottom middle shelf has two bins for finished work to be filed into our Portfolios. The cabinet on the right has our current curriculum (Bible, Handwriting Without Tears and All About Reading) and educational toys.

This little area is new in our Homeschool Room and we all love it! I wanted to create a corner for the white board to be out all the time for us to be able to use when we do our All About Reading and Horizons Math lessons. This is also a favorite spot for Read Alouds and bedtime Bible story time.

Last year, Little Bug made a Letter Craft each week with her Ready-Made Preschool. After she completed the entire alphabet, we put the letters in order and taped them across the wall!

I am so thankful for this space in our home! It’s fun to go back and look at the changes from last year to this year!
