Sweet Pea’s ABC School {Letters Qq & Bb}
Jul 03, 2014
We combined Letters Qq and Bb in preparation for family arriving the following week for a visit! Sweet Pea glued Q-tips on her Letter Q and she put bandaids on her Letter B. We read Giggle, Giggle, Quack, The Little Letter Q Book, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, My b Book and The Little Letter B Book.
For our Letter Qq craft, Sweet Pea got to paint with a Q-tip. Both girls enjoyed this so much and it kept their interested for half an hour! This was an excellent way to practice fine motor skills, which I am especially working on with Little Bug this summer. Sweet Pea did a Quilt Size Sort and she played a Loud and Quiet Game.
Letter Q is the perfect time to introduce the concept of money to the preschooler. First we identified each coin: quarter, nickel, dime and penny. Then Sweet Pea sorted the coins into four separate bowls. We made a Money Graph with the coins and talked about which had the most, the least and the same.
For Letter B, Sweet Pea sorted buttons by color into bowls. For her craft, she made a paperplate butterfly. This craft was awesome. It was so easy to gather supplies (just random things that we had in our craft drawer to decorate with) and then both girls were engaged with this craft for over half an hour. They loved using a Q-tip to put glue on the paperplate and then using all the random items to decorate their butterfly. The butterflies turned out so cute too!
Next week is Letter Dd!
