Because of our trip to the mountains, we did two letters in one week after we returned home. Sweet Pea put ocean animal stickers on her Letter O. We read Owl Moon and The Little Letter O Book. Sweet Pea did an Octopus Size Sort.

Sweet Pea put glitter on her Letter G. We read Giraffe’s Can’t Dance, Go Dog Go!, Green Eggs and Ham and The Little Letter G Book. Sweet Pea sorted the capital and lowercase Gg’s. She played a Gumball Number game. This was a good activity for one-to-one correspondence and number recognition.

On our last day this week, we played Grocery Store with real pennies! The girls both had a lot of fun with this. There is so much you can teach when playing Grocery Store: counting, money (we just used pennies), tithing, spending only money that you have, saving & earning money. The girls were given 10 pennies and then they gave one penny to God (tithe) and then they went shopping! I had items laid on the floor with price tags on them. The girls had to figure out what they could buy with the amount of pennies they had. To earn more pennies they could go clean up an area of the house and then I would pay them 10 more pennies. We were having so much fun it drew Daddy in from work to see what all the fun was about!
