Sweet Pea’s ABC School {Letter Ww}

May 01, 2014

Sweet Pea’s Letter of the Week was Ww! We read Bears on Wheels and There’s a Wocket in my Pocket. Sweet pea glued watermelon seeds onto her Letter W. She used magnet pom-poms to do her W is for Whale dot page.

We learned about the weather and made a W is for Weather craft. Sweet Pea glued a sun, leaves, cotton balls (for snow) and painted raindrops on her Letter W. We observed the weather a lot this week and had a lot of fun talking and learning about wind. We talked about the fact that we can’t actually see wind, but we can see the leaves and branches of a tree swaying in the wind.

We read the Little Letter W Book a million times!

To continue with our wind theme we played a game where the girls placed objects I had gathered in front of the fan and when they let them go, we observed whether the object flies in the wind or not!

We played with water another day as we did a Water Experiment. I had gathered various objects and the girls put them in the water to observe whether they float or not! They started adding their own objects, curious if they would float. (The sippy cup!)

Preschool learning activities really are fun and simple. The above two activities reminded me just how fun this age is with my girls. Those activities were so simple to prepare (just going through the school room/playroom and gathering various objects) and yet they had so much fun playing which is what the preschool years are all about. I will miss when I no longer have preschool lesson plans to make! It’s still a ways off though as Sweet Pea is just two and has two more years of preschool ahead of her.

Next week’s letter is Letter Xx!
