{Books We Read}

The week of April 14-18 our Ready-Made Preschool book was An Egg Is Quiet. This is one I decided to purchase off Amazon since it was just a little over $5. The first time we read it I was so glad we now have this book for our home library! It is a book you can read over and over again and learn something new every time. Little Bug enjoyed this book.

There was also an Easter theme this week so we read the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection from the Arch book The Day Jesus Died.

During our morning Bible time our story was about Jesus feeding the thousands of people with just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.

{Letter of the Week}

The Letter of the Week was Letter Ee! Little Bug did her Letter e craft by tearing brown construction paper and making a nest for the eagle eggs. She also had an eagle sticker to put on her letter e. Little Bug did her Do-A-Dot Letter Ee and she made the Letter E in salt. She did her ABC Book for Letter Ee and practiced writing Ee’s (and other letters) in her Uppercase Wipe-Off Workbook.

{Eggs and Easter}

We learned about animals that hatch from eggs and those that do not hatch from eggs. Little Bug had cut outs of 6 animals and she was to categorize them based on whether they hatch from an egg or not. She did this on her own and got it right and then wanted to draw water for the fish.

There was a huge emphasize on the Easter story from the Bible during this week. It was the week before Easter so it was perfect timing. Little Bug LOVES the Easter story and often will ask for “Jesus dying on the cross” when it is time to read the Bible. She got to make Resurrection Eggs. Each egg had a symbol that told the story of Jesus dying on the cross and then His resurrection three days later. There was a Bible verse to read for each egg and symbol. After Little Bug assembled each egg I hid them for her to find and then she told the story to me using the eggs.

Dyeing Easter Eggs}

It has been tradition to dye Easter eggs with Grams since Little Bug was 11 months old (her first Easter). It’s been interesting through the years dyeing eggs with little ones! This year Grams found a “no-mess” Easter egg dyeing kit and it really was amazing in reducing the mess! The girls enjoyed dyeing their eggs and then decorating them.

{Gluten Free Rice Crispy Easter Egg Treat}

Grandma and Grandpa came over one morning and made Gluten Free Rice Crispy Easter Egg treats with the girls! It was a sticky mess but we all had so much fun making these! They were so cute and the girls could pretty much do every step.

{Church Easter Egg Hunt}

Our church had a Easter Egg Hunt during this week and since it was right after naptime we decided to go. First, the girls were able to go to each of the stations that were set up to make a craft, get their faces painted and hear the Easter story using the Resurrection Eggs.

{Ears Pierced}

On Wednesday of this week, it was one of those mornings when I could just tell we ALL needed to get out of the house. Staying home wasn’t going to be good for any of us that day. It’s why I only plan for 4 days of school per week. It gives us flexibility when a day like this comes. Little Bug’s idea on where to go was to go get her ears pierced! She has been asking to get her ears pierced for probably over a year now. I guess I was feeling adventurous that day because I agreed this would be the day she could get her ears pierced. She was SO excited!!! We talked (for the millionth time) that it was going to take her being brave to get her ears pierced and she told me was ready to be brave. So off we went. Little Bug was brave for the first ear and then freaked out on the second ear! But, they are pierced now and she loves having earrings. That night when she went to church for Awanas she was literally telling EVERYONE she saw that she had gotten her ears pierced. We didn’t realize until later that we had gotten her ears pierced during Letter Ee week!
