{Books We Read & Letter of the Week}

Our Ready-Made Preschool book was A Pocket Full of Kisses to continue with the Valentine theme of February. This is a book we already had and a book we love! Such a sweet story about how a mother’s love only multiples as she has more children. Her love never runs out.

Little Bug got to put on lipstick and kiss the letter K. However, she did not like the way her kisses turned out so she covered them with sticker kisses. She made the letter K with the magnets and then did her ABC Book and Do-A Dot letter Kk.

{God’s Love}

The raccoon in the story learns his mother’s love never runs out and Ready-Made parallel that to God’s love for us, because He will always and forever loves us. There were five Bible verses about God’s love for us that Little Bug cut out and glued on to the hearts. We were to make a pocket out of paper to stick the hearts in but Little Bug wanted to string the hearts up to the window using yarn so we did! It’s still up in our homeschool room now!

{Counting Kisses}

We did many fun math activities using a bag of Hersey kisses. First, Little Bug was to estimate how many kisses were in the bag. She estimated there were 100 and when she counted them all, one-by-one, she discovered she was off on her estimation because there was only 67! She made patterns using the three colors: red, pink and white. We made a bar graph with all the kisses to see which color had the most and the least. And then lastly we played an Addition game using the kisses. It was amazing how much learning took place with a bag of candy! And yes, she got to eat one too!

{Bible, Hands-On Thinking Skills & Super Why}

Our Bible story this week was about Elisha and Naaman. In Hands-On Thinking Skills we worked on copying figures without having a guide on the paper. She did very well with this. We played one of our favorite ABC games, Super Why ABC Letter Game. Wonderful game to teach and reinforce letter recognition, letter sounds, rhyming words and reading CVC words.

{Hot/Cold Water Experiment}

My mom found this awesome experiment using hot and cold water and an index card. First they put cold water in one jar and put some drops of blue food color in. Then they put hot water in the second jar with red drops of food color. The water was to the brim of the jars. Then they placed an index card on the hot water and flipped the jar over. The index card held all the water in and the girls were amazed!

Seconds after the top right picture was taken the index card collapsed and the red water gushed everywhere! That is why the red water becomes yellow in the bottom two pictures. (We had run out of red food color.)

In the bottom two pictures you can see the warm water with the index card was placed on top of the cold water. Then we flipped the entire thing and pulled the index card out and the girls saw the water mix because hot water rises.
