I had planned to start having a formal Learning Time with Sweet Pea once she was 2.5 years old It’s hard to believe, but she is already 2.5 years old and we started what I am calling ABC School on February 24th!

Sweet Pea was so ready and so excited to start school! On her “first day” I told her, “Ok, Sweet Pea! It’s time for you to do some school! Are you ready?!”. She took off running to the homeschool room, sat herself down in one of our chairs around the little table and said, “Scoot me up! Scoot me up!”. She was ready to start and has been enthusiastic about “school” ever since!

Here is my plan for Sweet Pea’s ABC School!

1. I saved all the printables I used with Little Bug when I did ABC Learning Time with her, so of course I am going to use those printables with Sweet Pea as well.

2. I love Measured Mom’s site! It is FULL of wonderful learning activity ideas for preschoolers. She is currently moving through the alphabet with her preschoolers and I decided to use her ABC curriculum with Sweet Pea. I gathered ideas for Little Bug’s ABC Learning Time from multiple resources but when I found The Measured Mom’s site, I realized she had all I needed in one spot! For each letter she has a books list, craft ideas, fine motor activities, sensory play activities, math connections and a Little Letter Book for each letter of the alphabet! What more could I want??

3. Sweet Pea will make an ABC Book.

4. Sweet Pea will get to do a Dot Sticker page every week.

I set up Sweet Pea’s week to look like this:

Mondays- ABC Book, Dot Sticker Page, Fine Motor

Tuesdays- Printables

Wednesdays- Craft

Thursdays- Math Connections and/or Sensory Activity

Friday- Catch up day or we do a favorite activity of the week again!

Yes, she was trying to eat Play Dough!

We started the week of February 24th and are set to finish our last letter during the week of August 18th. I worked Sweet Pea’s school time into our morning. We have Bible Time, read books together and then it is Sweet Pea’s school time right before the girls have Room Time. This is working well for us. I wasn’t sure what Little Bug would do during Sweet Pea’s school time. I gave her the option of being a helper. She has chosen to be a helper some days and other days she decides to make something with her craft supplies.

We are currently in week 5 of Sweet Pea’s ABC School! We’ve learned about Letter Ee, Ff, Hh, Ii and this week is Letter Ll!
