Ready Made Preschool
Jun 06, 2013
I went to a workshop on Ready-Made Preschool while at the convention and left feeling even more confident that this is the right match for Little Bug’s PK4 year.
The Philosophy Behind Ready-Made Preschool
Ready-Made Preschool was created by Kate Funk, a homeschool mom of five, who believes preschoolers should not be "sitting at a desk" but should be up and moving, getting messy and not even realizing they are learning when they are learning!
She believes the components of a quality preschool program are:
- fun and engaging
- hands-on approach to learning – preschoolers are not designed to sit in a chair to learn!
- age appropriate (instead of handwriting, children form letters with play-doh, sand and shaving cream)
- appropriate time: 30 minutes for the 3-year-old and 45 minutes for the 4-year-old
- read quality literature: moral messages, rich in vocabulary, art work, have a learning component
- include Biblical components through an intro to the Bible with stories and pictures
About Ready-Made Preschool
Ready-Made Preschool is a 30 week homeschool preschool curriculum with four lessons per week that promote hands-on learning through a variety of activities using real literature. The lessons are thematic and focus on a letter a week with Bible, math, science and social studies integrated throughout lessons.
To make this curriculum even more desirable, there is no prep work required for teacher/Mom! All the supplies (minus the books which can easily be found in the library or on Amazon) are included in the program! Everything comes cut, prepped and individually packaged in a folder for each week’s lessons. How awesome is that?!
Level 1
Level 1 is designed for the 3-4 year old and focuses on capitol letter recognition, sequencing, patterning, number identification to 10, ordering and counting to 10, opposites, rhyming and more! Letter sounds are introduced in Level 1.
These lessons take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete.
Level 2
Level 2 is designed for the 4-5 year old and concentrates on lower case letter introduction, letter sounds, identification to 20 and beyond, ordering and counting to 20 and beyond, simple addition and subtraction using manipulatives and more!
When children finish her Level 2 program, they are ready for a phonics based Reading program.
These lessons take approximately 40-50 minutes to complete.
Price List
Level 1: $275 + $29 shipping
Level 2: $340 + $33 shipping
Ready-Made Preschool is pricy, but when you consider the fact that EVERYTHING you need to teach for an entire year is delivered to your doorstep, organized and ready to go, it is easy to see why.
There is a way to knock off some of the price and/or choose to pay the cost over the course of the year instead of one lump sum at the beginning of the year.
They are not kidding when they say everything you need to teach comes in a box to your doorstep. This includes “general supplies” such as playdoh, paint and glue. If you already have these supplies on hand you can exclude these “general supplies” from your order and save money. (I believe the “general supplies” cost $40.)
Kate offers a payment plan where you buy the lessons 10 weeks at a time, instead of all together. This allows you to make three smaller payments on the program over the course of the year.

It is KEY to find a curriculum that will meet the learning needs of the child. That is one of the many beauties of homeschooling. In public school, children must use the curriculum the state has chosen to them. The homeschooler has the freedom of choice and can choose what is best for each individual child!
I believe Little Bug has met her match in Ready-Made Preschool!!
