Dr. Suess Week
Mar 13, 2013
Dr. Suess’s birthday is March 2nd, so we spent the first week of March doing fun Dr. Suess activities!
We read The Cat in the Hat. Until I had kids I never really realized this book is good to teach your kids to always tell the truth to their parents.
We focused on the –at words in this book and made an –at Hat!
We read Green Eggs and Ham. Before we read this I told Little Bug that at preschool the next day she was going to get to EAT green eggs and ham! She just looked at me and smiled real big and said, “YUCK!” I told her the eggs would just look green but still taste just like eggs. She said, “Oh, okay!”.
We focused on rhyming words in this book. Then Little Bug matched rhyming words together.
Little Bug’s rhyming word pairs.
We read How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
Little Bug made a Green Grinch necklace out of green beads.
We read The Foot Book.
Little Bug used her feet to measure things around the house.
We made this chart about what we measured. Once we counted the number of feet long it was, I wrote dot-letters for Little Bug to trace.
We read Ten Apples Up on Top.
Little Bug did an Apple Counting activity. She counted the number of apples and then placed a clothespin on the correct numerical number.
We read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. This is a good book for talking about and doing opposites!
We read Hop on Pop.
We made Little Rhyming books. I was proud of Little Bug figuring out what these words said!
This week was also “Dr. Suess Week” at preschool and one day they had a Dr. Suess Parade!
Little Bug’s class sported Apple hats for Ten Apples Up on Top!
What a fun week!!!
