Christmas Fun

Dec 29, 2012

We started our Christmas Fun weeks by doing a fun Christmas Tree Art project. Little Bug had just told me she wanted to sow so this activity was perfect!

The prep for this activity was simple and easy: cut out a Christmas Tree from green paper and then hole punch it. That morning was a rainy morning, so we had made a tent to play inside. Little Bug wanted to work in her tent. She thread the ribbon through the holes which is a great fine-motor activity!

Then she begged me to put glitter on her tree! How could I resist? I know glitter is scary, but…it really is manageable with a cookie sheet! And I told her she could not be crazy with glitter in her hand! She put glue on her tree first and then she did VERY well gently pouring the glitter on her tree. Excuse the mop of hair.

She was so proud of her Christmas Tree and wanted to go show Sweet Pea, who was playing in her bedroom so we could play with glitter. 16 month olds and glitter are NOT a good combo, so I let Sweet Pea have her first Independent Playtime in the bedroom (instead of the pack n play). She loved playing in sister’s room! Smile

This turned out so cute. I will treasure it forever.

Little Bug made these Snowman ornaments as presents for her grandparents, aunt and uncle! This was an easy-to-make gift! Just buy clear ball ornaments from Michael’s craft store. Then we painted Little Bug’s hand white and she held the ornament to get her handprint on the ball. Once dry, I drew the details on the fingerprints to make the snowmen & stuffed the balls with red tinsel.

This Craft Stick Christmas Tree ornament was fun to do. Little Bug painted each stick green and then I hot glued them together to make the tree. Little Bug put them in size order (biggest to smallest) before I glued them.

So adorable!

She also made a Handprint Christmas Tree!

She once again had some fun with glitter. After using it at pre-k it is all she wants to do now during Learning Time.

Little Bug made Christmas Cookies with Grams and Bisa. I’m going to write a whole post on this!

Little Bug made a Candy Cane ornament. Instead of buttons, we used red beads because I couldn’t find any red buttons.

DSCN8302

Sweet Pea wanted to make them too! I’d let her hold a bead and then I’d put the pipe cleaner on it and push it through. She kept wanting to do it again and again!

We watched “The Legend of the Candy Cane.”

Little Bug did an I Love Christmas Puzzle.

We did Christmas Tree Counting.

DSCN8309

Little Bug counted the ornaments on the tree and then found the star with the correct number to place on top of the tree.

I can’t remember what these are called but I remember doing them as a child. It’s a pill-like thing you put in water and then you watch a shape take form in the water. This was a Christmas package of six Christmas things. Little Bug loved this.

Little Bug did a fun C is for Christmas Dot page.
