Thanksgiving Now
Nov 30, 2012
During this week we focused on thankfulness, feasts and turkeys!
We talked about how the pilgrims had a thanksgiving feast with the Indians and were so thankful for all God had done for them that first year at Plymouth.
Little Bug did not want to sit still for this Thankful Turkey activity (because she was excited that we were at Grams and Gramp’s house) so I would ask her as she ran by to tell me things she is thankful for. She came up with these on her own and I wrote them down. (We still lacked two feathers when I took this picture.)
Little Bug categorized the pictures.
She made a pattern with the turkey feathers.
Little Bug was responsible for our name cards at the table for Thanksgiving this year.
I assembled the turkeys and then she put the feathers on. There are enough in the box for next year and next year I think she will be able to assemble the entire turkey.
The turkeys looked so cute on the table!
The girls made Turkey Handprints and then we made them into cards to give to family!
We played a game called “Where’s the Turkey?”. This was an excellent game to work on number recognition without them knowing you are working on it! I hid the turkey under one of the numbers and Little Bug had to say the number before she could pick the card up so see if the turkey was underneath. She loved this game and I loved that we were practicing number recognition!
Little Bug made a Rocking Turkey and Grams used it to decorate the table on Thanksgiving Day!
This little girl woke up on Thanksgiving morning and spent the entire morning in the kitchen with Grams and Uncle cooking our Thanksgiving Feast. Little Bug LOVES to cook.
We learned that words have syllables by playing this Say and Clap game.
Little Bug did the Letter T sort.
I taught Little Bug about More, Less and Equal. I drew alligator teeth on the signs to show that the alligator wants to eat more. The first one she wanted me to also draw alligator eyes.
At the end of Thanksgiving Now week, our tree in the backyard was starting to look bare for winter!
