And more Pumpkins!

Oct 22, 2012

The end of our Pumpkin week was spent at the family cabin in the mountains!

Little Bug and Uncle carved a pumpkin!

She helped pull the pumpkin guts out for about 2 minutes and then said, “I don’t want to do this anymore!”. Uncle finished the dirty job.

Little Bug became interested again once Uncle started carving a face into the pumpkin.

They decided to make our pumpkin VERY happy!

Wesley made the most delicious pumpkin seeds I have ever tasted!

After Little Bug lost interest in pumpkin guts, we started working on several pumpkin activities I had brought on our trip for her to do.

The first was a Coffee Filter Pumpkin. Little Bug used her orange Do-A-Dot marker to make dots of orange on the coffee filter.

Then she sprayed water over the coffee filter. She tried so hard to squirt the water on her own but her little hands and fingers just didn’t have enough strength to do it so I helped her.

We also colored half a coffee filter brown and green and sprayed them with water too. This was used to make the vine & stem of the pumpkin.

After the coffee filters dried, I glued them together with a glue stick and laminated the pumpkin with contact paper.

My dad is very good at math and tutored me through all my math classes in highschool and college (I despise math!). So it was very special when Gramps did this simple addition math page with Little Bug!

After we got back from the mountains we had a couple more pumpkin activities that we did on Saturday.

We went on a Pumpkin Hunt, which is like an “Egg Hunt” only with pumpkins instead of eggs! I hid the pumpkins in the living room and Little Bug went around finding them all.

I have to say as well that she is wearing unmatching pjs in this picture! That is her new thing. She wants to wear unmatching pjs every night!

We made a pattern with pumpkins and apples.

While we were doing these activities, Sweet Pea was playing with our plastic pumpkins and trying to crawl in them!
