J week!

I told Little Bug to see if she could paint just the Js. She did a pretty good job! Her colors of choice? Yellow and orange!

Our handprint Jellyfish turned out so cute!

Michael’s had a sale last week. I stopped in to see if there was anything I could get for a good deal. I found a pack of foam paper for 50% off! I cut out Js from a piece of foam paper and then Little Bug glued them onto the paper with her new pink glittery Elmer’s glue. (You can find that in the craft isle at Wal Mart for less than $2. Small price to delight your 3 year old!) I wrote Jesus Loves Little Bug (the white paper is covering her name). She said the four Js were: Daddy (the great big one), Mommy, Little Bug and Sweet Pea (the lower case j).

We did Jelly Bean Graphing! I did this with my 4th graders when I taught graphing. It was so fun to do this with my little girl. Little Bug was enamored by the jelly beans. Of course! Tip: Just let them go ahead and eat one or two jelly beans before working on the graphing. They might focus on the graphing better that way.

I kept this simple with Little Bug. First we talked about the numbers on the side and the jelly bean colors on the bottom. Then I gave her a hand full of jelly beans and she placed them on the graph.

We figured out which jelly bean had the most and which had the least. We figured out which jelly beans had the same number and which jelly beans had zero. We also counted the number for each jelly bean.

We played with Jesus Floor Numbers. There are a variety of activities you can do with these! We put them all over the living room floor and then I would say, “Little Bug, can you find the baby Jesus who is swaddled in yellow?” She would look for Him and then once she found Him, I would say, “What number is that?”

Next, we put all the numbers (1-10) in numerical order!

Little Bug traced the letter J on the J Tracing Card.

Little Bug glued the pieces to make the stable and baby Jesus in the manger (Jesus Cut and Paste).

Little Bug loves to do the Do a Dot Pages.

We made a fun snack after reading the poem,

Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack jump over the candlestick!

After finding all the Js in this poem, we made “candlesticks” from banana slices and stick pretzels.

Cute and yummy!
